World Down's Syndrome Day Appeal

Today we are launching an Appeal for Families. We are asking for your help.

All of our efforts right now are focused on supporting families who have a child, young person or adult who has Down’s syndrome.  For many of our families this is an increasingly anxious time as many people with Down’s syndrome have serious underlying health conditions.  The Government has confirmed that people with learning disabilities are in the category of people who are especially vulnerable during this awful crisis.

We want to do everything we possibly can to support our families at this anxious time. But we really need your help.

In response to the growing crisis around us, we cancelled all of our community fundraising events that were planned as part of Down’s Syndrome Awareness Week - that was the right thing to do. But it means we have lost fundraising income of between £70,000 and £100,000.  We urgently need to close that gap to maintain our support for families who are struggling right now.

Please help us.

We know this is a dreadful time to ask you to put your hands in your pocket but anything you can give to help maintain our lifeline to families would be amazing.

  • £5 would help us run our information and support helpline for 20 mins.
  • £10 would support our online community for 45 mins.
  • £20 would help us to provide direct practical and emotional support to a family for one hour.

Tomorrow, is World Down’s Syndrome Day and we will celebrate the contribution that people with Down’s syndrome make to all of our lives.  Their natural kindness, love and generosity of spirit could just keep us all afloat at this dreadful time.
